National Association of Women Business Owners

The National Association of Women Business Owners is an American organization intended to provide support and resources as well as networking to the over ten million companies in the country that are owned by women.  Lisa Kaiser Hickey founded the association in 1975, hoping to connect working women in the United States and help create a unified voice with which women could help shape the economy and public policy.  She is now the president of the association, which boasts presence across the entire country.

National Association of Women Business Owners

A dues-based organization created by female business owners for female business owners, the National Association of Women Business Owners works to represent the interests of female executives and entrepreneurs across the country.  Encouraging diversity, the association offers membership and support to any woman who owns a business, regardless of her age, race, or any other factors.  With chapters in thirty-six states, there are over seven thousand members in the organization, and many states house more than one chapter.  California alone has nine chapters of the association, with over eight hundred thousand businesses owned and operated by women in the state.  Nearly half of the companies associated with the organization chapters in California are located in the Los Angeles area, which is second in business numbers only to the New York City chapter.

Each chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners has its own event calendar, but there are several yearly events that are held for the entire association may attend.  One of these events is the Women’s Business Conference.  This conference is a unique opportunity that provides businesswomen with developmental connections and exposure to institutions of higher education, giving these business owners the resources they need to expand their horizons.  The conference celebrates empowerment by encouraging women to continue building their companies higher and higher.

Association of Women Business Owners

The goal of the National Association of Women Business Owners is simple: to empower women running their own companies, and to give them the support, supplies, and networking they need to have their voices heard.  Female business owners are one of the fastest growing facets of today’s economy, and the organization seeks to not only further empower women running businesses, but to assist fledgling female entrepreneurs who are looking to start their own businesses, as well as nurture those that already exist.  With a vast network of sponsors and many corporate partners, membership to this organization can provide the tools and stepping stones a female business owner needs to really get ahead.
